Unbearable desire

近日非常嗜甜，經常無法忍受想吃甜食的慾望，雪糕、雪條、甜甜圈充當宵夜，實在不健康。希望這種慾望快點消失！

英文可以用unbearable指「無法忍受的」，intolerable的意思亦類似。Unbearable即是"not able to bear"，bear本身解「心懷、攜帶、承受、承擔」，例如，He bears no ill will.（他沒有心懷惡意。）He cannot bear the consequence.（他不能承擔那後果。）因此，unbearable解作「無法忍受的」都頗為形象化。

Unbearable常指因為太過惱人、不愉快、不適、痛苦、令人反感等而難以忍受，例如unbearable heat/ pain/ grief/ atmosphere（難以忍受的酷熱／疼痛／悲痛／氣氛）。

例句：The unbearable thought of desserts was so bad.（那無法忍受的吃甜品念頭實在非常糟糕。）The heat is unbearable. When can we turn on the air-conditioner？（實在熱得難以忍受，我們甚麼時候可以開冷氣？）His parents arranged numerous after-class activities every day and made life unbearable for him.（父母每天為他安排大量課外活動，他無法忍受這樣的生活。）
