Don't play chemist

上化學實驗課時，將不同溶液混合，觀察其變化真的很有趣。小朋友愛探索，但在家裏實在不適宜扮演化學家（don't play chemist at home），例如將含有氨的清潔液混合漂白水會釋放致命毒氣。

單數可數名詞不是一定要加上冠詞（a/an/the）、one、this、every等字嗎﹖為甚麼在don't play chemist一語的chemist前不用加？有些慣用語是可以不加冠詞的。除了don't play chemist，又例如fall victim to（成為……的受害者）。例句：I suggest you don't play chemist and try to mix ammonia with anything.（我建議你不要扮化學家，嘗試將氨混合任何東西。）Many animals have fallen victim to global warming.（全球暖化令許多動物深受其害。）

英式英文稱「藥房」為chemist's，美式用drugstore。留意，指「藥房」要在chemist後加's，即是chemist's shop，單用chemist則解「化學家」。很多店舖也可以用這種說法，例如，florist's（花店）、baker's（麵包店）、butcher's（肉店）等等。例句：I'll go to the chemist's to buy some pills.（我會去藥房買些藥。）
